FOUNDER’S NOTE

Who do I call?

Being someone's fiduciary is hard. You're asking a person to step into your shoes and make decisions as you would. Many people hesitate to say yes, and for good reason:
What if my own life gets in the way? What if I make a mistake, and they're relying on me?

That hesitation leaves a gap. People leave the line on their documents blank, or fill in a name they aren't sure of. In more than a decade as a local estate planning attorney, I saw it again and again. When I looked for someone local to recommend, I found almost no one doing this proactively.

So my sister, Ashley, and I built it. I'm a lawyer by training and a problem-solver by nature. When I see a gap, I want to close it. Ashley brings ten-plus years in operations and project management, building the kind of processes that still work decades later.

Different skills, one belief:

We all deserve an agent we can trust.

WHAT PREPARED US

Our backgrounds.

Sophia Munson
Co-Founder & CEO

Sophia earned her law degree from William & Mary, graduating cum laude and receiving the school’s Dean Certificate for service to the law school community. She built her career in estate planning, with a particular focus on complex family dynamics, special needs planning, and high-net-worth families, work that rarely fits inside a template.

Agents of Choice grew out of what Sophia saw again and again in that work. Too many people reached a moment when someone needed to step in without anyone named at all. And even when someone was willing to take on the responsibility, that person was often being asked to make enormous decisions without the information, preparation, or support needed to carry them out well.

Sophia came to believe that this could not just be a document problem. Protecting someone’s dignity and autonomy means preserving their voice even when they can no longer speak for themselves. That requires more than naming an agent on paper. It requires people who deliberately choose the responsibility, take the time to know the person behind the documents, and have a plan for what to do when the time comes.

Agents of Choice was built to provide that kind of preparation and support. At home, Sophia and her husband Mike try to keep up with their two children, a sports kid and a drama kid who between them seem to have somewhere to be most nights of the week. She also fosters dogs and shows up faithfully to Burn Bootcamp.

Ashley Chase
Co-Founder & COO

Ashley trained seriously as a dancer growing up and once considered pursuing it professionally before choosing a different path. She carried the same discipline into an MBA at the University of Notre Dame and then nearly a decade at Amazon in London, where she rose to Director of Launch Management for Prime Video EMEA, managing multimillion-dollar budgets and teams spanning over a dozen countries.

At Agents of Choice, Ashley turns ambition into a plan that actually works. She oversees the financial and operational systems that allow a highly personal service to function with the discipline of a much larger organization. It is the same instinct that once helped her coordinate major product launches across multiple countries, now focused on building an organization designed to be dependable when its clients need it most.

Outside of work, Ashley and her husband Ray are kept busy by their two young sons. One still carries a British accent from his London years, while the other chases every ball he sees. Ashley’s love of travel is as strong as ever since moving back to the United States. She enjoys exploring North Carolina’s mountains, beaches, and staying active through running, dancing, and yoga.

Our Values.

THE PRINCIPLES THAT GUIDE US

How we show up matters as much as what we do.

Integrity.

We're here for people who need this, not for everybody. If someone in your life can do this job and wants to, that's who it should be. We're not here to sell, or persuade. When we act, we act from your record: your values, your standards, what you actually told us while you were well, not our own assumptions about what you'd want. That takes commitment and capacity from us, and honesty and investment from you.

Endurance.

We do the work before it's urgent, so that by the time we're needed, there's nothing left to figure out. That means staying present for years, sometimes decades, meeting with you regularly, and being the kind of business that can actually keep a promise that long. One with process, feedback loops, and a network of people we know. We move deliberately, not fast, to make sure that what we do is right - today & tomorrow.

Collaboration.

We're one part of your team, not a replacement for the rest of it. We work alongside your attorney, your financial advisor, your doctors, the people who already know you, and we build our own bench the same way: an advisory board, a network of professionals, and colleagues we call when we need a second opinion. We’re partners - we serve with respect, accountability, and team-work.
